The story
Much like your favourite album, Phonic Finesse was born from a mixture of life experience, inspiration, and an urge to bring something incredible into the world.
In the late ’80s and early '90s era of cassettes and CDs, we found an early love for music and quickly discovered how technology fits into the experience. It was hard not to notice how clean the originals sounded compared to our copies and how it did not matter if you played your favourite music on a Walkman or an expensive CD deck when the headphones made it all sound tinny.
Our journey in the world of Hi-Fi began with taking apart and rewiring a Soviet-era Radiotehnika amplifier and S-30 speakers, learning that a good quality audio experience is not about any one element, but the true sum of their parts. The right parts.
In 2006, we formed a group with the goal of creating a stunning sound system. We called it Audiobow, and our first speaker prototype was shaped like a bow. Life interjected, and it took until 2012 that the dream resurfaced, and we were brought together again with fresh ideas and newfound passion. Phonic Finesse was born.
After ten years of developments and adaptations to music industry changes, Phonic Finesse was ready to build and sell our prototypes. The impressions spread, and to keep up with growing demand, we set up the first workshop in 2018 to begin producing the built-to-order Ludovico series speakers.
Phonic Finesse is more than just a good set of speakers, they are as visually rewarding as they sound. Inspired by the Nautilus speakers from Bowers and Wilkinsons and in Mike Oldfields “Tubular Bells” CD album booklet. Everything looked in place, like watching a Ferrari at the time. The Nautilus offered beauty, style, statement, and essence with HiFi quality (even though I had never heard them). They triggered dreams to start our own adventure with speakers.
